This is the first I’ve seen you mention kids. How are you accounting for that additional cost with your retirement numbers? My wife and I have an 18 month old and have found that kids are WAY cheaper that society leads us to believe, but they are still an extra mouth to feed and body to cloth. Also significant is the time raising a child takes away from your money making ventures! They are worth every penny!
We do plan on having kids sooner or later. Like everything else we expect to pay far less than most people expect (along the lines of your experience). We’re considering overseas birth, asking for hand me down clothes and toys etc. MMM has calculated his kid costs him about $300 per month so that’s about what we’re expecting.
