A quick video about microwave oven transformers (MOT) and how I plan to salvage one to make a DIY spot welder and electromagnet.
This is the introduction to a new series about the electric bike I’m converting to run on a homemade lithium-ion battery pack made from old laptop batteries (18650 cells).
Its funny that you wrote that title. A few days ago we gave away our old broken/dying microwave on Craigslist! I’m glad the people can use appliance like this even past their life in their original purpose.
That’s great! Glad you didn’t just put it on the curb like everyone else.
Dear Lauren and Mike,
I really enjoy watching your great videos and am proud to be represented by one of your first thousand paper snippets. Whenever I watch one of Mike’s DIY videos, I am amazed by what he can do, but – working as a lawyer – I always think adding a disclaimer to them would be wise… I don’t know what would happen if a kid was trying out the welding, so just to be safe, you know?
Keep up the good work and have a great day, greetings from Germany, Britta
Thanks Britta. You bring up a very good point. I should put something in the description. Do you have a standard “don’t try this at home” disclaimer you would recommend?
As I’m not practicing in the U.S., I’m not sure what would be legally required in your country. Better check with someone who knows more about your legal system… 😉
